Stupidity is comparing yourself to others,

To your friends, your enemies or even your brother!

Humans don’t form a hierarchical chain,

Where one is over and other is under

In our own way, each one of us is a wonder.

If they don’t have anything other to do than compare…

Just think how their life is going to fare!

Imagine their despair

That all they can do is pass comments sitting on a chair,

While they don’t have anything to do and care.

To describe success, there is no constant…

More Than You See

What you hear might not be the truth,

Just like the story of the fairy and your broken milk tooth.

Those who behave the sweetest,

Might just be acting in front of you, 

And could actually be the ones who are the most uncouth.

 

The person with whom you’d never fight,

Could end up being the one who’d give you a backbite.

Those who ALWAYS act helpful and kind,

Might have a hidden agenda on their mind.

 

If the unexpected often ends up happening,

Often hurting one’s feelings,

One wonders why hasn’t the word “unexpected” lost its meaning?

 He was sitting in the park, all alone,

Visibly upset with his face screaming a silent groan,

It seemed as if he had just been hit with a mental cyclone.

Then came a person unknown…

The guy asked him if he was fine,

Tried cheering him up with games and jokes combined,

And alas, all his sadness suddenly became benign.

The person was his desperately needed lifeline,

And his night’s moonshine.

That human was no celebrity 

That human might not have opened several charities

But he was a superstar full of compassion

And showed that small acts go so far that one can’t even imagine

Who Knew

Who knew that behind that laugh

Was a heart that was broken in half

 

Who knew that behind that beautiful Instagram post

Was a soul that was depressed the most

 

Who knew that behind that gorgeous face

Was a person who had no inner grace;

And needed to be put in his place

 

Who knew that behind that poet’s charming phrases

Were his life’s darkest phases.

 

Who knew that behind that “loyal” friend

Was a stranger that only knew how to pretend

 

Who knew that behind that closed room door

Was a brain that was waiting to roar…

Memories

All of these stories

Some full of joy, some full of worries

Sometimes jotted down in journals or diaries

Are life’s memories

Creating mischief and putting your friends to blame 

The joy of defeating your cousins in a board game

Teasing your best friend’s with their crush’s last name 

All these memories are beautiful, all the same

Packing suitcases 

And visiting different places

Getting photographs clicked making different faces

And then later, remembering the times spent in these oasis…

Binge watching web series and shows

At late night just before you doze

And then getting annoyed when the mobile screen buffers and froze

Ah, what times where those!

Those small successes

Of winning a quiz through guesses

Or getting first prize in a competition where you had to wear fancy dresses

Reminiscing those give the most joy to your brain and its five senses

Sit back and go through your life’s memories on a random day of July

And one moment, they leave you horrified

And in the next, you’ll be flying in the sky 

And before you realise, you might have tear in your eye…

You’re worth it

One minute you feel on top of the world

And in the next, you don’t even find joy in the chirping of the most melodious of birds

One night, you feel as if you’re drowning

And the next day, you scream, “What a lovely morning!”

 

One minute, you feel that you are on cloud nine

And in the next, you think that you are not worth even a dime!

One night you find a person to be full of misunderstandings and mistrust

And the next day, you realise that the person was actually worth much more than gold-dust

 

All of these spontaneous changes in feelings

And all of those thoughts inside you with which you are dealing

Searching here and there for some meaning

Trying to make sense of what you are always dreaming

Is something that happens to every human being.

 

So just remember that you are not alone in whatever you are going through

You’ll eventually find someone who’ll always be there for you

Whenever you feel your life is tragic

Remember that some souls know magic…

Showing people that you are happy

When you are feeling sloppy,

Pretending to be content

Even when you are not at your 100%

Following your own advice,

Not repeating the same mistake twice

And having a peaceful life

Is Easier said than done

 

Repressing your emotions like a buried landmine

And converting that negative energy into positive vibes every time

And dealing with those people who behave like Einstein

Is Easier said than done

All it takes

All it takes is to say thank you

To please a hardworking soul

All it takes is to say sorry

To fill in the relation’s gaping hole

 

All it takes is to love with a genuine heart

To bring delight on a person’s face

All it takes is to keep your ego aside

So that you become someone whom it is impossible to replace

 

All it takes is to be patient

To get better things in life

All it takes is to be humble

To become the one people would like to prioritize

 

All it takes is to smile

To show the world that you are strong

All it takes is to forgive

To ensure that your bond stays intact lifelong

 

All it takes is to communicate directly

To clear all misunderstandings

All it takes is to be sensitive to people’s concerns

To be on the same page even when your views are contrasting

 

All it takes is, to tell the truth

To assure yourself that you are not playing with anyone

All it takes is to come out and express yourself

To get the weight off your shoulders that almost weighed a tonne

 

 

 

Mortals!

Life is short-lived
Do and say whatever you have ever craved.
 Always try to fly like an eagle
Unless what you’re doing is illegal

All those things which make you go, ‘Wow’
Do those right now!
Try to be with people you love 
What you shouldn’t do to them is shove!

Only make those promises which you can keep
It would make others adore you deep
Don’t be afraid to love and care
That is what makes you rare 
And would make people stand and stare

Express yourself to the people you trust
There’s no one else that would help you adjust.
They are the ones that would provide you protection
And not judge you for your imperfections

If there are ever problems-communicate
So your mouth doesn’t fill with distaste!
If they really treasured you,
They would say, “Let’s make this right, mate!”

Just don’t live wearing two masks,
And let Karma do its task
Just don’t lie,
And you will become happy in the blink of an eye!

Vent out whatever you have to, if you haven’t done it yet
Just so you don’t end up with regret.
There is no right time which is right
And no time which is wrong
It is you who decides your fate
But you can’t just sit around and wait
As you won’t get everything on a plate!

There was something in his mind

Not person, not a thing

But the most important feeling

It nourishes his soul

Gave him the confidence of being a diamond and not a simple piece of coal

It calm downs his mind

And brings in the belief that the  world might still be kind

Encourages him to work towards what he wants, bit by bit

It says, “It’ll surely be worth it”

Instills in the faith that even though selflessness might sting

But it does give you the wings

Towards happiness and jolly things

When others tell him to sit down

It tells him to stand up

When others tell him to stop

It tells him to start

When darkness and clouds combine

It provides him with a little ray of sunshine

Of love, faith and something divine

It might cause him to daydream,

But it does provide him with the mettle to reign supreme!

It might leave him dejected sometimes,

But it does provide him with an opportunity to shine!

It is what allows him to cope

With failure, distrust, and all the downwards slopes

It is the feeling of hope
