Those Little Things

Getting another slice of pizza,

Suddenly thinking of a beautiful story idea,

Finding out that the information you require is on Wikipedia,

All of these scream, “Eureka”!

.

Dancing along to your favourite song,

Talking to your best friends all night long,

And when you know that someone is lying but you play along,

These little things give joy, lifelong.

.

Going on a vacation after a tiresome few weeks,

Listening to your new sneakers squeak,

Learning new skills and techniques,

All of these give happiness in heaps.

.

Completing a long project,

Watching a movie with special effects,

Secretly enjoying when your loved ones over-protect,

All of these give beautiful memories to reflect!

.

They are the very source of enjoyment,

Making up life’s vital components,

So savour every one of these little moments!

Beauty

Isn’t it beautiful listening to the sound of the rain?

Isn’t it fascinating thinking how the moon wanes?

Isn’t it lovely seeing the mountains covered with white snow?

Isn’t it pleasing to feel the wind blow?

.

Seeing the birds fly,

Having your dog come and sit nearby,

Looking at clouds in a clear blue sky,

All lifting your mood up high!

.

Who says beauty is found in material things?

Are gold and silver really needed to experience the joy life brings?

“Comfort” Zone

Getting out of one’s comfort zone,

Trying out travelling alone,

Making decisions that are risk-prone,

Is no doubt difficult – like trying to live without a phone!

.

Often leads to breakdowns,

Often makes one look like a clown

And often makes one frown.

.

But then if one doesn’t live for these things,

They are just like a bird without wings.

Even if their day-to-day life doesn’t sting,

They miss out on life and all that it brings.

Think over Overthinking!

Thinking of shallow things too deeply

Yes, to stop overthinking about things isn’t easy

But then, you’ve got to keep yourself busy!

.

Play a game of carrom,

Or go study the structure of an atom.

Watch a movie

Or go do something goofy.

Read a book

Or go learn how to cook!

.

Why pretend when you’re not fine?

In front of those to whom you say, “You’re Mine.”

They are the ones who’d get you off of your tough times.

.

If you don’t come out and express,

If all you do to your thoughts and feelings is repress,

The mind would become a bubble of stress.

And when it’d burst, it would create a huge mess!

Hope For Humanity

He had a dream

To do something for the disadvantaged

To improve their esteem.

“Your idea is not feasible,” they deemed

But he never let them affect his saintly scheme

.

He always had hope

That his idea had scope

When someone told him to stop, he said, “Nope”

He was made up of stuff that would change the globe.

.

Now, whether he succeeded is a different story,

But actions like these bring mankind glory.

Amongst this world of insanity,

There are still people who give hope to humanity.

You Are Special!

Stupidity is comparing yourself to others,

To your friends, your enemies or even your brother!

Humans don’t form a hierarchical chain,

Where one is over and other is under

In our own way, each one of us is a wonder.

.

If they don’t have anything other to do than compare…

Just think how their life is going to fare!

Imagine their despair

That all they can do is pass comments sitting on a chair,

While they don’t have anything to do and care.

.

You are equally important,

To describe success, there is no constant…

Memories

All of these stories

Some full of joy, some full of worries

Sometimes jotted down in journals or diaries

Are life’s memories

Creating mischief and putting your friends to blame

The joy of defeating your cousins in a board game

Teasing your best friend’s with their crush’s last name

All these memories are beautiful, all the same

Packing suitcases

And visiting different places

Getting photographs clicked making different faces

And then later, remembering the times spent in these oasis…

Binge watching web series and shows

At late night just before you doze

And then getting annoyed when the mobile screen buffers and froze

Ah, what times where those!

Those small successes

Of winning a quiz through guesses

Or getting first prize in a competition where you had to wear fancy dresses

Reminiscing those give the most joy to your brain and its five senses

Sit back and go through your life’s memories on a random day of July

And one moment, they leave you horrified

And in the next, you’ll be flying in the sky

And before you realise, you might have tear in your eye…

Still, he rose

He was used by many but was still grateful

He was misunderstood but fought through

He was not accepted but still tried to be kind to everyone

He was used not by strangers, but by his friends…

He was ridiculed for not understanding things even when he understood everything

He tried to blend in but in vain

He tried to be more open but it made him more insecure

He kept up with the latest trends but was still not welcomed

He remained a tool of help but never a human who deserved happiness

He finally realized that the world is self-centered

When he asked for help, people turned their backs.

When he went quiet, people accused him of being arrogant

When he stopped caring, he was considered a narcissist

When he kept things to himself, they suspected something wrong

What they didn’t know was that they were the “something wrong”

Was he afraid?

Maybe

Did he show it?

Not at all

Did he indulge in self-pity?
Maybe

Did he have any idea what to do?

Not at all

More than anything, he was made to feel guilty even when it wasn’t his fault.

They went on and on and on and on till one day, nothing was left to exploit.

Every few hours, a blow hit him

Which took various forms

“Friends” betraying him,

Not including him in activities

Ignoring him when he didn’t serve their purpose

And he took it at all in his stride

Until one day, he couldn’t take it anymore

His heart turned to stone

And was not listened to anymore

His life became a blur

His mind became restless

His soul desperately needed to be calmed down

His pillow was evidence of his helplessness

His only wish now was for school to end

What had been his second home for years

Became a nightmare for him

Asking his own friends for succour became an ordeal

His life hung by a thread, of a few loved ones

It was the thread that still gave him support to live on

Maybe it was all his fault

Maybe it was him who was to be blamed for his condition

And now he was lost,

Lost in the sea of diffidence

Lost in thoughts of future

Lost in the comfort of home

Lost in daydreams

A quote kept him going

“This too shall pass”

And then he rose…
